Recommended Situational Awareness When Deer Hunting

Its recommended that you make sure you tell someone where you intend hunt and the time you expect to recover. First, you must make sure that you know and familiarize yourself with local areas, you will be hunting. Check out and familiarize yourself with entry and exit routes, boundaries such as roads, the prevailing wind direction, the artificial sounds in and around the area hunting, such as agriculture, machinery, etc., what direction will the sun set in (for your compass bearing), and of course every landmark easily recognizable as hilltops, roads, towers, rivers and lakes, etc. You always know where you are in your hunting area.

Do not underestimate the importance of hunting equipment safe – Because it could prevent a serious accident or a fatality. You should not treat your hunting safety as a given. These are just some examples of what to consider to ensure a hunting trip safely.

1. The all important kit of first aid.

2. A cellular phone or a walkie-talkie – make sure it works in your area.

3. A good whistle

4. Water – Obviously to quench your thirst, but it is also useful for moving bowels when you kill the trophy

5. A paper cover aluminum to keep you warm if necessary
6. A length of rope

7. A small folding saw to compliment your hunting knife

8. A sort of reflection / marker band.

9. High energy food – something that could keep you comfortable for two days or more.

10. Good straw water purification tablets or iodine.

12. A pocket mirror.

13. Freezer bags.

14. A good Swiss Army knife or Leatherman if you have one.

11. Toilet paper – need we say more?.

15. A good survival attitude – calm positive. You should not have major problems if you have these few items. You should be able to get all these items in your daypack. Safety comes first in hunting deer. Remember – some people depend on you to go home
