Using a GPS for hunting can be very useful when scanning in your game, and for the recovery of their animals. However, you will learn to make a point of interest, do a route, and use of hunting / fish calculator on your GPS unit before leaving the field. All GPS units are a little different, but some instructions core are:

Mark a waypoint

When you want to mark your current position in the field you want to go to the mark of a waypoint screen on GPS. You can see his current position in the form of a GPS waypoint. Use your navigation buttons to move to instead of a name from his position as TreeStand1, Elk tanks, etc. Now, when you want to return to this position can only find the name you provide in your list of GPS waypoints and take you back to your current location.

Take the Tour

A route is a series of waypoints which takes you to your final destination. I often use a route when I'm scanning and want to mark several points along a ridge that I like glass for the animals in the field and the potential location of stem. You can do a route on your GPS to go to the screen on your GPS routes. Then click New to make a new route waypoint. Keep doing this until you have marked all the points on the way you want glass to reach its final destination.

Hunting / Fishing Calculator

Many GPS units have a hunt / fish calculator built into them that will tell the best time to be in the field game based on the phase of the moon. Each GPS is quite different in how they access this information so consult the manual for specific instruction. This information helps you stay on the field at the most opportune time when the animals are up and moving.

This is just a few things to begin using your GPS for hunting. To learn all about what GPS unit can do and how to use it, find an instructional DVD for your specific model of GPS.
