Have you dreamed for years of backpack hunting mule deer miles from the nearest road? It has been said that the ITA not hunting sheep that is Most of the adventure, the ITA bighorn sheep, which live. First and foremost, get fit! IÂ'm not talking about walking to your mailbox once a day or play a game of basketball every weekend. To get even more of your mule deer hunting, you want to be in the best shape of your life. I understand, depending on your age, that may not be possible, so if thats it the case, seek the best form youÂ've been for the last five years. The important thing here is to do everything you can. My training is jogging three to four times a week. I started out walking and jogging about three months before the trip and the trip time comes, my goal is to jog for an hour straight. I find this easier than trying to give distances. If you can maintain a jogging pace for an hour, you should be able to Climbing the mountain backcountry need to hunt mule deer. I also jump rope, biking, hiking and walking with my backpack loaded (approximately 50 lbs) in between. All these elements are good for building the muscles youÂ'll need your hunt.
Second, shoot your gun. If you pay money, get fit, but donÂ't Practice with your gun, you arenÂ't ready to hunt mule deer. The best – would fire a gun once a week at targets 300 yards away. YouÂ'll be amazed at the difference in an angle is steep. I also recommend buying a laser rangefinder and use your practice sessions. It is also useful to learn to judge mule deer in the area. Thirdly, buy the best equipment you can afford. There are some excellent products on the market today. Look for the lighter materials more robust for your backpack and clothes. I will not go into each section, but a few I recommend are: Lots of Lowa boots Sheephunter an internal pack I use North Face pack, but it exists on the market, wool socks I use Smartwool, rain and light A compressible gear I use Frogg Toggi. If you are hunting with an outfitter, ask for a list to put on and follow him. Buy the best optics you can afford! Personally I use Brunton Epochs in 10.5×43 because of their magnification and weight, but there are many quality optics on the market. IÂ'll say it again, get the best you can afford.
