"Sir Charles" Barkley, former NBA star, is in trouble again … just the way he likes. His recent comments on race was due to his commentary on the state of Oklahoma saying he had "no place for blacks." He then continued with a funny comment saying: "The Oklahoma Sooners and the Hornets were only brothers in town."
Do not misunderstand. Barkley has had a long career make statements about race in an open forum. He said things about people in black and white. He even once commented on how the NBA has been in a "mess" after a white baseball player won the "Slam-dunk" contest. Funny, but only because of his race, he could get away with this observation. He even told to see the dance of white makes him "nervous." Again, funny, but no white player would get with it.
He made the usual remarks about blacks and unemployment to say about retiring, "Everything that America has required, another unemployed black man. "He also said America is hard on black people, but of course Barkley never seems to leave.
The point of this is really not about his comments. Some of his comments are funny and some are a little fiery. I could not go into all its comments. However, as usual, if Barkley was a white player with a history of racial comments, he would be banned from the league and banned from advertising. To deny that it's almost comical. Imagine a white, former basketball star Larry Bird as saying "watch people play chess black made him nervous" or "The NFL is in disarray with black quarterbacks? "It would be fired so fast his head would turn. Various politicians have criticized the" racist "Bird and say it reflects what blacks have to go. In other words … the usual.
There is absolutely nothing Barkley difficult to make a few observations. But he knows that it is the color of his skin that protects it. For the same protection does not go to a white ex-player is shameful and cowardly. For once, I would like to see someone "of note" question.
