I had a ferret since I was a boy – I also had cats and dogs, but the ferret is always more intelligent and far!
With a dog, you buy a bed, a bowl and lead, feed, play with it and walk regularly and is a friend for life.
Likewise with a cat. Buy a bowl, cat food and litter, put a cat door in the rear door giving access to the outside world where he loves to walk and to hunt and you have a pet very happy, but a ferret … whoa!
You know, the ferret has been around since at least 2500 years, although what appears to be Ferret remains have been dated to 1500 BC.
We think they were generally high for hunting rabbits and others and in some places still are, but in this modern world it is more popular as domesticated pets.

Ferrets are carnivores which means they like meat. There are lots of commercial food products that can be bought or even created, but they must be at least 32% meat. This will provide protein and fat needed by a ferret metabolism – does not eat adult cat or dog food is a definite no-no!
Ferret provide edible chew toys for young ferrets can generally reduce the risk of chewing inappropriate objects.
Ferrets are susceptible to different diseases. This including cancers that affect the adrenal glands, pancreas and other internal organs and most importantly, the lymphatic system.
As the saying goes, a ferret is for life not just for Christmas and normally has a lifespan of 7 to 10 years. So remember, if you have a ferret as a pet, it will be around for a while.
