Pig hunting with dogs …..?
What do you have in your bag of medical emergency, if one dog is injured while hunting? We have a pack of hunting dogs, and gear them with waistcoats and necklaces to keep them safe. Witnessed a nasty injury last week and try to make sure we have the best of the best in hand until we can get the dog to the vet.
I've seen more than a few dogs wounded – the dead also that perhaps could have done with a few basics in first aid kit. The main thing that really can not live without tweezers are – I've seen dogs die from the blood loss and almost bled to death in the short term – may be protective litereally clamps to live a dog. Iodine is required. Peroxide is a good thing to have for irrigation wound. The sutures or staples may be useful especially if the dog has his belly open – a couple of points can keep it that way until help arrives. BTW – Good work in collaring and acquisition of their dogs – more kids should do
