Ironically, it became a place where people could escape from the bustle of large shopping centers. The most important item traded in Highlands, North Carolina today is to exchange stress for relaxation. A look at the beauty that engulfs the highland region and your heart is forever attached.
Over the last 134 years all over the country flocked to Highlands, NC North to escape it all. There is something in that mountain air of the Appalachians, which seems to seep into the human condition and provide soothing relief problems that beset us the great journey of life. Highlands allows us to become one with nature and ourselves again. It offers the opportunity to slow down and do some fishing, hunting or golf. It reminds us what life is really all about what is a crossroads of dollars crossing.
