Here are some suggestions for tools you need to keep in your fencing bag to carry some regular maintenance and testing.
Every shooter needs a small toolkit for equipment maintenance. The tools and supplies following are essential:
- precision screwdrivers for point maintenance and assembly; also useful for the body wire repair.
- collets points; wire cutters are also useful, and are incorporated into many clips.
- Allen key, screwdriver or a socket wrench for pommel nuts.
- fast drying (eg, cyanoacrylate) glue for emergency repairs thread.

Fencers who do a lot of maintenance will also find useful tools:
- metal file for fitting tangs into guards / grips.
- hacksaw for cutting tangs to down.

- scraping tool for cleaning the old glue grooves, a jeweler screwdriver old will do, provided you do not mind ruining. Utility knives will also work.
- Lighter for burning electrical insulation or softening springs.
