So you're new to the idea of planting deer food plots. You know it would be great to hunt on your own little ambush site, but you do not know how to begin, what to plant, How to loosen the soil, how to kill weeds and grass, or most of all, where to plant your plots deer food. You probably have a pretty good idea of where you think would be a good place.
But before you decide where plant your plot, you need to step back and propose a comprehensive plan that most guys do not and regret it later.
There are some factors entering turn a piece of property in the paradise of deer.
1. Bedding Zones – Where the deer are bedding in the fall? Having enough Bedding undisturbed areas is more important than having awesome food parcels. You read.
If you do not have areas of bedding available you will not males mature on your property during the day. And that's what you absolutely need. Whoever wins the most suitable areas bedding.
If you do not have bedding, you can create in one afternoon by turning the cutting of trees. If you do not know what is, you can read about it later on my blog.
2. Wind Direction – Which way the wind blows most of the time. Most regions have determined wind directions. Thus, if your winds are from the W-SW-NW, you want to place your areas of bedding on the west side of your property or in areas where you enter and exit your hunting grounds of the leeward coast.
3. Only when you understand that you can decide where to place your deer food plots. They should be in the wind or the wind cons of each area of the bedding, and preferably not on the edges of your property. True to the center of your property you can save the better.
4. Here's how it works. Do not put them in the midst of all open areas. Tuck the tight up in the woods or other area of coverage and make your deer food plots.
Several small 1 / 2 acre plots work better than a 1 acre lot. Trust me on this point.
However, you could make a 2-3 acre plot, or more, only if you divide it up with about 10-12 rows of corn or 5-6 feet tall switch grass that grows very fast and is really cheap.
5. You should also try to plant small plots of true in woods between bedding areas and food plots your principal. Here, you can force a mature buck to get food on a small plot of land in search of food small and the police its territory against other males.
Therefore you do not have a large deer food plot in an area open. Because then everything has a Buck to do is walk near a food plot or great big field, and with just a glance he can see everything must know, and then move along to your neighbors well before nightfall. Cross your fingers.
So the goal is to give mature male to be done on your property, so that when they are done investigating each small plot deer food and bedding all areas, when they leave your property, it will be too dark for your neighbors hunters to shoot your dollars. This is called time management for deer.
I hope it makes you think differently about where to put your random deer food plots.
