Here in my home state of Michigan, the baiting was banned in the latter half of 2008 and will continue to be prohibited at least until 2011. This has attracted many hunters by surprise because it was too late to start any conspiracy of deer food properly. However, Many hunters are considering launching their debut in 2009.

Unfortunately, many hunters have ideas for planting deer food plots in areas open and file enough deer to come hunting season. There is more to the success of "hot spots" that most people think. I was a citizen when I was young, like many hunters and others do not know the first thing about growing food to a plot of years of trial and error.

If you want to eliminate the mistakes most people make when creating their first White-tailed deer plot food, you should ask yourself the following questions.

* What time of the fall I go hunting, sooner or later?

* Is there already other farm fields with neighboring crops and what kind?

* What type of soil I have in my property, it is sand or clay?

There are other questions to ask, but we will respond to these three.

The fall weather you plan to hunting is essential for the type of plants you choose. If you want your food plot to peak in early autumn for hunting arc, then you want to plant a perennial as Ladino (white) clover or alfalfa falcata. Deer love these legumes during the summer and early autumn. However, just after the first frost, you will notice the deer backing off a bit because the forage lost some of its palatability (taste).

deer hunting secrets exposed

If you really want to draw deer during the gun muzzle-loading season or late, then you want to go with a mixture perennial and annual crucifers. The Brassica family of plants consists of fodder rape, kale, rape, and turnips. You may be familiar with these cruciferous broccoli, cabbage, spinach, Brussels sprouts, etc. During the summer and fall, brassicas have a bitter taste due to the alkaloids in plant. However, after the first hard frost, the bitter taste becomes sweet and they become the favorite food of deer.

If you other fields with crops in your area, do not plant the same thing. Deer love variety. If your neighbor's fields are planted with corn and / or soybean plant something that will be more attractive for the late fall after a hard frost. It will be too difficult to compete with the guarantee that the corn and soybeans standing offer less attractive after they turn yellow and brown.

Before you start spraying against weeds for plan your future food plots deer, check the soil to see if it is too sandy or clay too. You should be able to say. Dig a hole 63 with a spade shovel. If there is a lot of sand with very little consistency to it, or if the soil is so hard that it is difficult digging a single hole, you have too much clay. In both cases, you'd better find an alternate location.

If you take the time to answer these questions before you start, it could save you wonder where all the deer are when you're sitting in your stand of trees and wasting a season set.
